Costly lessons imparted by #Sridevi for free. Care to listen ‘n’ learn?

Costly lessons imparted by #Sridevi for free.  Care to listen ‘n’ learn?

Beauty personified at the cost of one’s life seems a bit dicey and difficult to digest.  Actress Sridevi had a natural charm about her that one can attribute as a plus factor. It was a gift from God.  She probably earned it on account of her past Karma.  All she needed to have was a sense of maturity to realize that one has to age gracefully and not overdo it. Stress can take a toll on life is the lesson we can all learn from her untimely death.  Certainly 54 years is not an age to die but one to relax and enjoy the delicious fruits of labor. She rose to the limelight with her acting prowess and she could have still retained her slot in the field as a star of yesteryears for a lifetime, and forever more, with no one to snatch it from her, no matter what her weight or wrinkles were.  But then Madame Death snatched it from her on account of her callous attitude towards her body and self infliction, at the cost of beauty retention is what we learn.

There is a saying that when we run behind money, it surely will elude us. Similarly, when we run behind being beauty consciousness, we lose it anyhow, as we are obsessed and stressed about it all the time.   For that matter, anything that we chase is always going to be a difficult task, could mean a defeat or a big burden of stress, which eventually can take a toll on life.  But if we gracefully accept what comes our way, be it money or beauty, we can be sure to win the race.

Ageing gracefully is an art just like acting skills.  Signs of grey hair and wrinkles are nature’s way of saying that it is time for thanks giving for a beautiful life, well spent.  There is nothing to be ashamed of. "Paropakarartham Idam Shareeram" , meaning this body is given to serve others.

It is a gentle reminder from the Divine to hang up one’s boots and change one’s attitude and focus towards service activities to the Divine when we get these warning signs in our body.  Beauty is just skin deep.  Any amount of costly treatments, be it from any part of the world, time and again, will release tell tale signs at some point of time and this is what Sridevi had encountered.

We all have a moral responsibility to look after our body well. Our body is a mortal one and is subject to diseases and one has to attain immortality by one’s actions and Sridevi has already clinched the slot of being No 1 in her hey days on account of her dedication in her chosen profession.   Just like in a game of cricket, a batsman or bowler who has clinched the record title can always be bettered by another player in the years to follow.  Similarly in the Cine field.  Their names will go down history lane and shall ever be recognized for their herculean efforts. “Generations to come will scarcely believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth”:  Albert Einstein on Gandhi. That is history. History sure remembers names to ring a bell in our ears.

A big lesson for youngsters and those crazy health maniacs who run behind Botox and other artificial treatments envisaging  that they can elude people and allure them into believing that all is well and they are forever young. It is enough to be young at heart. One’s soul needs to be happy and she had no peace in that aspect.  What her spouse Bonny Kapoor or her two children expected of her we do not know, but it is evident that they are sure to feel her physical absence.  We ourselves as outsiders can’t accept the fact that she is no more, so all the more for those close to her.  Very unfortunate that at a time when she needs to be with her children to guide and support them in life , her chair is knocked off…  not by fate, but sadly by her own veritable actions that she held on to, clinging for support.

Life has to be led with certain lifestyle modifications no matter who we are.  Learn to accept ageing or your disease if any, as this is sure to help you maintain your health and prevent complications. Stress is part and parcel of everybody’s life with no exceptions. Even a child of five has his or her stress levels with peers at schools these days and overburdened with carrying books to school. Competitiveness commences no sooner than we set foot on earth.

Best is to keep away from weight reducing shakes and body building drugs or go under the knife for body modifications. Any cosmetic procedure will have its impact on life.  Accept yourself as you are. Learn to respect your body as a temple, it throws out symptoms and gives indications in the form of tiredness or less concentration at work.  Exercise moderately and eat wisely but don’t overburden or drag your body. You need to clearly draw a line and abide by your Organ chart, The Triple Warmer time, go early to bed; be early to Rise and exercise Time Management, all of which can contribute to a good healthy, peaceful, long and blessed life.  Leading a sedentary life is as dangerous as overdoing it is what we learn from the untimely deaths around us. Moderation in everything, as a perfect balance is essential. It is always better to be late than have your name preceded with the word ‘late’.

What prompted me to write a blog on her now is  she is the same age as me and  it sent ripples down my spine on that realization apart from a feeling of depression. She is a Chennai vasi and I have been an ardent fan of hers, although I can’t claim to be a movie buff to have seen all her pictures. I was not aware that she went through so much of hassles for maintaining a body which, in its normal course was bound by wear and tear.

We all make mistakes . No one is perfect. But this is a costly and irreparable one.  Yoga, good diet, Mudras, Walking, Dance, music,  and any form of hobbies pursued ardently and  social service,  can  help as stress busters. Be yourself. Be natural.
